Tsitska is an old thick-skinned white grape variety autochthonous to the central and western parts of Georgia. It is a good-quality grape mostly used for the production of the of dry, sparkling and fortified wines. Tsitska grape variety takes its name from the village of Tsitske, and it is medium-sized, mid-ripening, and susceptible to odium and of downy mildew. The best expressions of the grape are showing characteristics of yellow fruits such as quince, melon, and pear, sometimes with a honeyed note. It has nice acidity and good balance with great potential to age, especially the oak versions. It is often blended with Tsolikouri to produce some of the best light table wines in Georgia. Outside the country, it is nowhere to be found.
