Rotgipfler
COLOR

Rotgipfler is a light-skinned white grape variety native to the Thrermenregion of Austria. It is a natural cross between Roter Veltliner and Traminer, and it is traditionally blended with Zierfandler to form traditional wine known as Gumpoldskirchener. The varietal is very sensitive to frost and its tiny berries and tightly compact bunches make it susceptible to botrytis. Rotgipfler has golden yellow colour pronounced fruity bouquet and fine acidity. It is also aromatic, rich in extracts and robust with aromas of stone fruit and tropical fruits. Due to its high acidity makes it can be used to make textured, spicy dry wines, but it is also excellent for late-harvest wines like the Spätlese and sweet Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese wine. Unfortunately, the paintings of the grape are decreasing and it is getting less popular in the country, which is the only place where is grown.
