Another wine from the Valtellina region, the single vineyard DOCG Valtellina Superiore Inferno (hell in Italian) where Inferno is the name of the vineyeard and 117 is the land register number.
Made with 100% Nebbiolo, manually harvested, very low yield, the wine is aged in new French barriques and bigger barrels, tonneaux and aged in the bottle for an additional 24 months before being released.
Even though this wine is very similar to the Valtellina Supeiore Sassella in the wine making process, still, the result is very different. We often hear or read of the wine “terroir”and by tasting these two wines we can really appreciate what the different soil characteristics and microclimate due to the grape and wine.
This is a great Valtellina wine, a red wine with a complex nose, with black cherry and vanilla notes, in the palate is full, smooth, velvety and ageing potential.
