Barolo, Collina San Ponzio

Barolo is a DOCG red wine named after a small town located in Piedmont often referred as the king of Italian wines, and whether we agree or not, it certainly is one of the most famous Italian wines.

Our Barolo, from the San Ponzio winery, is made with Nebbiolo grapes grown in old vineyards in the La Morra commune, one of the most vocated area of the Barolo appellations, and it is a modern, yet, typical Barolo wine. Elegant, complex, aged for 24 months in big barrels, with the wood only used to help the Nebbiolo’s tannins to soften, this is a wine where the grape show what is capable of.

San Ponzio’s Barolo has a complex nose, with floral and spicy notes, is full in the mouth, balanced, with a lively acidity and soft tannins. To fully appreciate and enjoy the wine, it is recommended to let it oxygenate for at least a couple of hours in a decanter.

Barolo is the perfect wine to accompany roasted meat and game dishes or just to be sipped over some mature cheese, preferably Piedmont aged cheese.
