Wachau is by far the best wine region in Austria, already internationally recognised known for its full-bodied, pepper-tinged Grüner Veltliner and rich, steely Riesling. It is as well one of the smallest and picturesque wine regions in the country situated alongside the Danube River around 35km west from the town of Krems. Most Wachau vineyards are located on a very steep often terraced hillsides above the Danube. A naturally sunny location where hot summer temperatures are stabilized lightly by the river below.
