Barossa is the most prominent wine region in Australia internationally acclaimed for its red wine from Shiraz and GSM blend - Grenache, Shiraz and Mouvèdre. The wines from Barossa Valley are counting for one of the most sought after wines in the world reached already iconic status. The name Barossa derives of Spanish origin and it is one of the oldest regions in the country situated about 70 kilometres north-east of Adelaide in South Australia wine region. The Barossa wine zone includes both Barossa Valley and Eden Valley, making it one of the few areas in Australia to have neighbouring warm and cool climate growing conditions. Barossa Valley has a continental climate, but its different microclimates vary from very warm on the valley floors to progressively cooler at higher altitudes on the hillsides and further North in the valley. Barossa Valley and the other South Australian wine regions, is classified as phylloxera free and the quality wine produced in this region comes from some of the oldest vines in the world.
