Baden is the most southern wine region in Germany, and it is also the warmest of all, located near to the border with Switzerland. It is by far mostly known for its red wines from Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) which have outstanding character and quality. As well two other white grapes are largely planted and are not Riesling are Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) and Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris).
