WINE REGION
Aconcagua Valley
Country Chile

Aconcagua Valley is one of the most intriguing and well known wine-producing regions in Chile situated 100 km north of the capital, Santiago. The name Aconcagua comes from the big river flowing through and the mount Aconcagua and translates as 'stone sentinel' overlooking the narrow, steep-sloped valley where vineyards are planted. The climate has an essential role in the region which is defined by typically hot summers and mild winters with great amplitude temperatures during the day and the night. It is a region famed for its powerful and dense red wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Carménère. It is as well home of modern wineries and wine collaborations between leading producers from the United States and Chile.
