Agiorgitiko
COLOR

Agiorgitiko is a dark-skinned red grape variety indigenous to the Greece's Peloponnese peninsula wine region. The grape is one of the red wine rising stars capable of producing moderately deep purple-red colour wines with intense aromas of fresh red fruits, medium acidity and soft tannins. When the Agiorgitiko is oak-aged it is deep in colour, while the aromas are showing concentrated and complex scents of red fruits. The taste is usually rich and with high quality, ripe tannins. The grape can produce a variety of styles like excellent rosés or remarkable dessert wines from sun-dried grapes, and it is often described as a multi-dynamic grape. Agiorgitiko is sometimes blended with Cabernet Sauvignon which is giving splendid results. The grape is predominantly planted in Peloponnese and small amounts of it in the Macedonia wine region. Unfortunately, outside Greece is nowhere to be found.
