Seyval Blanc

Seyval Blanc
Seyval Blanc is a light-skinned white grape variety made by crossing between Seibel 5656 and Seibel 4986 by Seyve-Villard vine nursery in Saint-Vallier in the Department Isère in Rhône Valley of France, although currently there are no plantings in the country. Seyval Blanc is a very productive grape that ripens early in the season, making it suitable for cool climate viticulture and it has found considerable success in the United States and Canada and also England, where it is the most widely planted wine grape. It is an early-ripening, high-yielding vine generally resistant to disease but susceptible to botrytis. It produces almost neutral-tasting, acidic white wines, which are well suited for the production of sparkling wines.
