Merwah is a rare light-skinned white wine grape variety with origin in the mountains of Lebanon, where it is used in the production of blended white wines with great ageing potential and finesse. The grape is closely related to the Semillon grape from Bordeaux and usually produces rich, nutty and complex wines, sometimes lacking acidity. Some of the iconic wine producers from Bekka Valley have started to make impressive expressions of varietal Merwah.
