Fetească Albă is an old light-skinned white grape variety with origins in Romania and it is one of the most famous and largely planted white grape of the country. It is a medium-ripening vine susceptible to botrytis, downy mildew, powdery mildew and mites, but frost-resistant to - 20 Celsius. It produces alcohol-rich, aromatic white wines with balanced acidity and aromas of citruses and peaches. The best expressions are coming especially from the Moldova region in the east and Transylvania in the centre. It is as well a part of the famous sweet wine of Cotnari which is one of the well-known and traditional wines from Romania reached international recognition. It is to be found as well in Moldova and Hungary.
