Debit is a golden-skinned high yielding white grape variety indigenous to the Dalmatian coast of Croatia known for its freshness, herbaceousness and high alcohol content and minerality, usually blended with other grapes to create some very interesting white wines. Back in the days, it was associated with intensely coloured white wine with dull taste due to its prolonged and unbalanced maceration, but nowadays it is vinified in a more elegant way which is very pleasant. It is, as well traditionally used for making of the very sweet wines, and some modern producers are making probably the best sparkling wines in the country from it. It is widely spread across Dalmatia in the continental and coastal areas of the country. Outside the country is nowhere to be found.
