Barbarossa is a light-skinned red grape variety found in France and Italy. It is a very aromatic and spicy red grape, producing light wines and the name translated of Italian means, red beard. Usually is found in the regions of Emiglia-Romagna and Liguria, where it makes medium-bodied, fruity red wines, but most often used for rosé or grappa. In the island of Corsica, it is one of the common red grapes known under Barberoux name and used sometimes for production of white wines.
